The company was established under the name "Gematronik" in 1961 with the purpose of "manufacture, sale and maintenance of electronic equipment". In the beginning, the principal activities were dedicated to the provision of installation, maintenance, training and logistic support services for military and surveillance radar systems. Over the years, the extensive experience gained in this field lead to the development, production and installation of Gematronik’s own weather radar systems: The "METEOR"-series weather radar systems were born. In the following years, the company concentrated on constantly improving the development and design of its weather radar systems, ensuring that the systems reflected state-of-the-art technologies and were tailored to meet individual customers’ needs.
Nowadays, with 50 years of experience and an always open mind towards innovative ideas, SELEX-Gematronik has successfully accomplished the evolution from maintenance support provider to a leading turn-key provider of complex meteorological sensor networks.
