Workshop of Polarimetric Doppler Radar and Weather Observations

The "Workshop of Polarimetric Doppler Radar and Weather Observations" was held at the factory of SELEX-Gematronik in Neuss (26th - 29th September 2006) by Prof. Richard J. Doviak and Prof. Dusan S. Zrnic NSSL/NOAA, Norman, Oklahoma.

This year, participants from Far and Middle East like Brunei, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Philippines and Iran, from the Caribbean Sea and Fiji Island, from North Africa as well as from many European countries have met at the SELEX - Gematronik factory and the Holiday Inn Hotel in Neuss to approve their knowledge in Polarimetric Doppler Radar. The excellent program for polarimetric doppler radar covered wide range of information. Prof. Doviak and Prof. Zrnic did a great job of covering a wide variety of topics in the designated period of time.

The chance, to have a closer look into the "heart" of the factory of SELEX-Gematronik was given to all participants on the second day's workshop. This opportunity was taken by all participants with great interest.

During this technical tour the participants as well as the speakers emphasized the practical use of Radar Signal Processing and Dual Polarization within Doppler Radar and Weather Observations. During this visit they were able to combine theory to praxis.

At the end of the workshop, the participants as well as the speakers came a way expressing their belief in the success of this highly sophisticated event.
