AMS - Gematronik signs contract in Latvia

AMS - Gematronik GmbH has signed a contract with the Latvian Hydrometeorological Agency (LHMA) concerning the supply and installation of one Doppler weather radar METEOR 500C.

The delivery will take place in the first half of 2005.

The purpose of this project is to modernize and consolidate the meteorological and hydrological services of the new EU member-state Latvia. LHMA cooperates closely together with the Latvian Air Force and the Latvian Aviation Authorities as the three main users of meteorological information in the country. These three authorities consider weather radar data as a major tool for early detection of severe weather. So, weather radar sensors gain increasing importance as a basis to reliable weather forecasts that serves the increasing needs of the general public, military, industry, agriculture and aviation safety particularly.
