Opening Ceremony of the AMS - Gematronik METEOR 500C Doppler Weather Radar System in Norway
The official opening of the Doppler Weather Radar System METEOR 500C operated by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute on the island of Bømlø took place on 17th June 2003 in the presence of the Director General, Professor Anton Eliassen of DNMI and of the officials and delegates from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Finance, local Authorities and Organisations and, of course, the press.
This radar is located south of Bergen on the most western point in Norway. It is remotely controlled from DNMI headquarters in Oslo and is part of the Norwegian Weather Radar Network.
