SELEX-Gematronik provides High-End Dual Polarization Radar Systems to Rome and Milan Airports
SELEX-Gematronik has signed a contract with the Italian Air Traffic Control Service ENAV for the upgrade of 2 Dual-Polarization Weather Radar Systems at Rome-Fiumicino and Milan-Linate Airports.
The upgrade covers the replacement of Transmitter and Receiver including the data signal processing as well as an adaptation to the existing antenna subsystem. The design of the systems delivered is based on the proven METEOR 1500C technology, a klystron-based C-Band system specifically tailored to the needs of users in the field of aviation.
The two weather radar systems form the nucleus of an extended network based on Rainbow® 5, SELEX-Gematronik's leading radar sensor management system. Further radar sources are expected to be integrated into the network by 2007.
The implementation of the systems is a consequent next step of SELEX-Gematronik in the important Italian market and underlines our market leadership in the growing segment of aviation meteorology.
