SELEX-Gematronik upgrades DWD Research Radar at Hohenpeissenberg

SELEX-Gematronik has successfully completed the modification of DWD's (Deutscher Wetterdienst, Germany) research radar system at the Hohenpeissenberg radar site. The modification comprises the implementation of ROEL (Receiver Over ELevation) and dual polarisation technology on the basis of a SELEX-Gematronik Radar System of the 360 Family. Signal processing is performed within the shock mounted and temperature controlled housing on the antenna.

The research radar at Hohenpeissenberg serves as a testbed for innovations to be introduced into the next generation operational service radars of DWD Deutscher Wetter-dienst. Being part of a long-standing and successful partnership between DWD and SELEX-Gematronik, this contract once more underlines the technology leadership of SELEX-Gematronik in the field of radar meteorology.
