Weather Radar for Bermuda Island
AMS - Gematronik GmbH has been awarded a contract to supply a high performance S -Band Klystron radar system for Bermuda Island. BAS (Bermuda Air Service) - SERCO chose AMS Gematronik based on the company's proven performance in building Klystron Weather Radar Systems.
The METEOR 1500 weather radar system will be primarily used for aviation weather support, wind shear detection, and tracking of hurricanes. The weather radar data will be integrated with automatic weather stations and weather forecasting terminals. All data will be linked with the AMS - Gematronik MeteoWeb® server which can be accessed by any user in the net.
AMS - Gematronik is the leading supplier of modern S-Band Klystron weather radar systems. Claudius Marschalik, International Marketing Manager of the company, says: "Currently, half of our total production consists of klystron radar systems. We expect an increase to 75% over the next years. By using more commercial technology and modular subsystems, the price difference between Klystron and Magnetron systems is affordable. The benefits compared to a magnetron system are tremendous: Phase coding for increased Doppler range, outstanding clutter cancellation ratio and cleaner spectrum."
